bogus arrest just to have right to search vehicle
were any of my rights violated when i was arrested for failure to maintain headlamps when required by not turning them on when pulling out of driveway until i reached street, so police could search my vehicle since i refused to give permission before arrest in state of iowa

If you were arrested there is a search incident to arrest. Most likely this is what happened. Depending on what sort of contraband the police obtained through the search it is possible to try and get the evidence suppressed, but be prepared to spend.
