Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

I have been charged with a serious misdemeanor for false reporting to a police officer. I suffer from anxiety and depression, so this incident happened while I was in an anxious state. This is my first criminal charge against me. I have been seeking counseling + group therapy (dialectical behavior therapy) + seeing a psychiatrist when I am supposed to. My lawyer has told my husband several times that there may be a chance for dismissal as long as I stay out of trouble and continue with counseling, etc.

I am starting to feel a little bit concerned because it seems like the case is moving slowly. I have talked to my lawyer about this but he's not very patient when it comes to answering my questions and it feels like he's leaving me in the dark. I am just wandering how long it takes for a serious misdemeanor case to be settled through the court system? Since this is my first and last offense (because I am not the kind of person to get into trouble) what is the probability of this case being dismissed? Should I be concerned that it's moving so slowly?

Let it take its course and trust in your lawyer. If you're represented I can't offer any advice.
