Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

not even been charged

I have a relative who has been in jail for 50 days and he has yet to be charged with anything. The police report states that he had nothing to do with the murder. But yet they wont lower the bond or let him out. I am just not understanding what is going on. How a Judge can keep a man in jail for that amount of time when there is not one charge? Please help me.

There's got to be more to the story. Has he hired an attorney?

Re: not even been charged

A person cannot have a bond set without charges being filed unless tthe incarceration is for civil contempt which would still require setting a purge condition. Those does not sound as if you are getting an accurate depiction of what has occurred.
