I was charged with 4th degree theft for taking a street sign. What will I likely get for punishment? I read the max is 1 year in jail and $1500 in fines. I have no criminal record and am in college right now on the dean's list. Please help!

If your record is as you say you ought to be able to ask for and get a deferred judgment. At most you can expect a fine and a reduced charge.
