Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Concealed Weapon

Is there any chance of avoiding a conviction for a concealed weapon? I was caught with a loaded gun under the front seat of my vehicle. I admitted I knew it was in the car, but I didn't say where I thought it was (I thought it was in the trunk) and my boy friend moved it to the front of the car intending to remove it from the car, but I got in and drove off unaware. What are my chances? and what can I do to improve my chances?

There may be other issues

First, I am not licensed in your state and I recommend that you contact an attorney who is experienced in criminal law in your state. There may be other issues present in your case, for example, did the officer have probable cause to stop your car? Is it illegal to possess a gun in the trunk of your car? Is knowledge of the location of the gun an element of the offense? Please see a good lawyer soon. Good Luck!

If we have not met face to face and agreed to my representation of you in a written agreement signed by both you and I, then I am not your lawyer. Any comments made here are not legal advice but presented in the spirit of this bulletin board as general information only.
