I was conviceted of assault while displaying a weapon (Misdemeanor). I was stripped of my right to bear arms. This was 4 or 5 years ago. How do I get my gun rights back?

The question is whether you are a felon or not, I would think. If you were convicted of an aggravated misdemeanor, that counts as a felony under federal law because the potential penalty is more than a year in prison. If that is the case you are barred from owning firearms under federal law.

You can contact the Governor's office. They also have information on the Governor's website about requesting restoration of rights.
