Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
County unprepared for initial appearance
My daughter went to her scheduled initial hearing to give her plea on the advice of a lawyer, but the county was not prepared for her to be there. There was no judge in on that day and the clerks at the county were not aware that she was even supposed to be there.
She went ahead and filled out a written plea of not guilty but can we request a dismissal because the county was not prepared but we were.
