Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Deferred Judgement
If an employer does a criminal background check, would my convictions show on the report even though I was issued a deferred judgement, to which I have completed the sentence for? I've actually checked online for my criminal history and it showed up but on the Iowa Courts Record, my record is expunged, Why is that?

Re: Deferred Judgement
Unfortunately the DCI keeps such information and it does much to negate the purpose of the deferred judgment. However, you can truthfully say that you have never been convicted of ________. That's the best you can do.
