deferred judgement
Does a deferred judgement show up on a background check while it is active, and after the fact.

It depends on the kind of background check. An arrest will show up in the federal NCIC system, and a deferred judgment will show up in the DCI system. However if a person completes the term of probation and gets the records moved into the deferred judgment docket one can say with authority that they have not been convicted of a particular offense.
