If case taken to trial does the accuser have to be present to testify?

Generally yes. However it depends on who or what you mean by accuser. An informant may not necessarily be a witness. In addition the presnece of a witness is usually required to testify, unless they are unavailable and have previously given testimony in a deposition or other hearing.
