Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
early reinstatement of driver license
I am a recovering alcoholic of just over five years now. My license had been revoked for six years for third offense owi, also suspended for an additional six years for driving while my license was suspended. For four years now, I have been driving on a restricted license as long as I continue with the instalation of a safety intoxalock device in my car. I can prove my continueance of being sustaned of any alcohol or mind altering drugs,I have an excellent paying job,I've married since all this began,I am a step-mother, now,I also own my own house.I feel that since my life is finally on the right track and that all these things can be provened beyond a doubt, maybe an early reinstatement of my license can be in order? Even if that can't happen, maybe I can have the intoxalock and sr22 insurance dropped, and maybe some sort of special license plates for patrols to be able to idintify this certain driver at any time? My job may pay pretty good for the area that I reside in,it does get a bit expensive to have to pay out $132.30 every 2 months, thats $3175.20 in four years to have this system installed in my car,not including the $3000.00 for the treatment I needed, fines, attorney's fees, court costs, time spent in jail, doesn't any of this account for an early reinstatement of my drivers license?

early reinstatement of driver license
You need to talk with an Iowa attorney who does a lot of DUI work. You've asked a question which will have an answer varying from one state to the next, and which most attorneys even in your state probably can't answer. It is almost cretainly controlled by statute, and even among criminal defense attorneys, unless a large share of their practice is DUI work, they likely won't know.
