Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

in feb my soon to be ex husband wrote me out a check for 1k from our tax return and told me i could deposit it into my bank accout and i took our girls shopping.. when i took our girls back home to their father he shut the door and told me that i was being a bitch and that he had put a stop payment on the check.. i got pissed and tried to leave the house but as i opened the door he slammed it shut and laughed at me saying you are going nowhere. i told him to let me go and move away from the door but every time i got it opened alittle he would slam it shut again and almost got my hand a few times. this went on for 30 some min with him telling me im not going anywhere and that i was just being a bitch, a cunt and that it was his turn to screw me over (all because i wanted a divorce and i let him have everything) the last time i tried to open the door and he slammed it shut i hit him in the jaw and got out of the house and went home and then to a friends.. next thing im getting a call from my boyfriend saying that the sheriff was looking for me.. so i called the sheriff and we had a talk and the next thing you know im going to jail on demestic assult.. i have shown up for court twice and my public deffender has not been there either time.. i have called her and called her to only get a sec and she just puts me through to her voice mail.. i have left messages and i got a letter from her office on friday saying i had court today and if i didnt show there was going to be a bench warrent out for me.. so i showed up and again she was not there. county attorny told me to call her and i did. she informed me that she doesnt do court on tue and wanted me to tell the county attorny to move the trial date back.. i told her that was her job and handed my phone to the county attorny.. he was not happy and i just want this over with.. my soon to be ex doesnt want it pursued anymore and had appoligized to me for how he acted and told the county attorny that it was all a misunderstanding and that he had envoked it, but the county attorny said he was gonna make an example out of me. and my public deffender now it trying to get me to take a defered judgement that is still gonna cost me my cna license and then im out of a job and with the $870/mo my boyfriend and i are ordered to pay in child support i cant afford to loose my job, hell i cant even afford to put gas in my vehicle to drive to court and then to find out that my public deffender isnt even gonna show up.. im really frustrated and dont know what i should do.. my soon to be ex and i just want it dropped.. and how is it that if i dont show for court there is a warrent out for me, but she doesnt show up and doesnt call and nothing happens to her?
