Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
I feel I need legal aid in an upcoming hearing to rescind a protection order. Because the case is criminal I can receive no assistance from pro bono organizations with a lawyer or even an advocate. Which is strange because I am fairly confident this is a civil action even though it is part of a criminal case. Anyways, they said no. They'll only help if you're trying to get someone in trouble, not correct a misunderstanding. Also, I am not the accused. So, I don't qualify for a public defender. I cannot afford a lawyer. Where can I turn to? I do have very good reason for wanting council.

Are you the person trying to get a protective order rescinded? Were you the person who is the subject of the protective order? More facts are needed.
