Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

felony vandalism charge

My 19 year old daughter will be arrested tomorrow on a felony d vandalism charge. Spray painting. She was questioned and denied any involvement. The officer said her initials were found on top of a building in this small town a few days after the incident. There is not any physical evidence and there where several people at this house where they say this was planned. She has a court date for a minor in posession on Thursday. She does not have a record and this is scaring me. I have an attorney but how do I know he is good. He said he can't give me any answers until my daughter is arrested and the records are made public, which will be tomorrow, Monday. Can my daughter really go to jail for possibly being involved with drinking beer and spray painting. Can this really be on her record forever. Can this be lowered to a misdeanor? Young adults do stupid things and isn't the punishment a little harsh for the crime? Can the police lie about the dollar amount of damage. The next day all of the painting was covered up.

Re: felony vandalism charge

Your attorney is correct and your daughter will not come out unscathed. I suggest you pay attention to the attorney.
