Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

I was with my friend recently. We were both intoxicated and went outside for a cigarette. while outside, the friend i was with said he was going to vandalize a vehicle. when drunk he always makes comments like this but never acts on them so i said yeah right while not believing him. but this time he actually followed through on his talking and damage a vehicle. i did not think he was actually going to do anything and did not do anything to aid in the vandalism besides watch. is there any way i could be any part to blame or responsible for any of this. could any legal action be take upon me for being there when this took place, not know that he was going to do this when he wanted to go outside for a cigarette? im worried that i could get a ticked for destuction of property or something even though i didnt do anything to the vehicle.

You might be, you might not. You were there and didn't do anything to stop your friend while he vandalized a car. If nothing else this should serve as a lesson to choose your friends more wisely.
