Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
ok I own a home. My boyfriend lives with me but his name is not on the loan. He was being watched by the DNE and got busted. Our home got searched and they found traces of cocaine, guns and other stuff in the house they took in to custody. Is this on my boyfriend or on me since I own the home? I was not there at the time of the raid and I need to know if I am going to be charged because I own the house even though I really had no idea what was going on. I didn't even know he sold drugs.

There's no hard and fast rule that allocates this problem to one person and not the other. It could be attributed to him, or both of you. A lot will depend on whether you've been a bother to local law enforcement and whether there is any evidence that suggests you are anything more than an innocent bystander. Only you and law enforcement know the answer to that. . I suggest that you retain the services of a good attorney to protect your interests and make discreet inquiries in advance of any charging decision by the county attorney.
