Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

My husband came in threw Calfifornia when he was 17 now he is 31 years old. When he was 20 years old he got into trouble for selling meth less than a pound.

He served a sentence of 15 months with another name he used he got scared that is why he used someone else name. Government released him and he process papers under his real name under the Life Act where they only had to pay 1500.00 dollars for fine if they came in illegally. Now because there was an informant who turned him in they came to pick him up at the house and now his in jail. He has two children that are American Citizens and so am I .. but to the government that does not matter so then what does... and my life only gets complicated my older son who he has help me raised his father is retired Sgt for the Air Force and he wants to push a charge on me so I wont leave the country with his son... What do I do then
