Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
I had my identity stolen a few years ago and I have 4 5th degree theft by check charges on my record in the state of iowa. How do I either get my record sealed or dropped because it is affecting me finding a job in this tough economy. Also dealing with a current issue with my ex and he was charged with domestic assualt 2nd offense and the plea bargining is starting. What is the lowest charge that can be placed on him in this process

If it wasn't you that committed the theft crimes, then it shouldn't be that hard to prove. The person who was arrested or cited was likely to have had some identifying information taken from them, such as fingerprints or a mugshot. You could call the law enforcement agency that handled the charges and take it from there. I had a similar case a few years ago and we cleared it up quickly. Regarding your husband and his charges, there are a wide range of charges and it will be up to the prosecutor, the judge, and your husband and his attorney to resolve the case.
