Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Lawyer withdrew:

Thursday 10/8/09 I took my father to pretrial we were suppose to go to the lawyers office the day before to sign the Alford Plea (a plea of guilty). My father said he was not doing it and called his lawyer to tell him he was not coming in to sign it. The lawyer did not return his call (as usual). He wanted to tell him he is not taking the plea and that he would see him at pretrial. Pretrial was at 10:00 am, we waited for the attorney to show up he then called my dads phone at 11:30 am, thats when he asked my dad why he did not show up my dad said you were suppose to call me and that i'm not taking the plea agreement. The lawyer than said well i guess at this point then Iam no longer you attorney. So I told the bailiff that his lawyer just quit and he told the county attorney and then the judge call the attorney and made him come in. We went in the court room and then he again withdrew from being my fathers lawyer. The judge asked the attorney if in thirty years has he ever went to trial and the lawyer said no.(this shows when you look up all his cases) Now he has given us a written court document stating his withdraw. The document is different accusations then what he stated to the judge. Blaming my father for not showing up for appointments (only one at his office), he has been to every pretrial hearing I know cause I take him. We filled out the papers for a court appointed attorney. But this lawyer has done nothing for my dad except continuances. Which does not amount to 7,000 dollars. I wish i could write more because there is so much to say about this man.

I want to know what motion can I file to get accountability of what we have paid him for so far and can we file something like ineffective council ? Even thought it has not went to trial ?

I have asked many questions and as I said before I am very great full, thank you

I will try to make this short as possible.

If you think your father's representation has been substandard you can file a complaint with the Supreme Court Commission that handles complaints about attorneys it is on the supreme court website.
