Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Outstanding Charges and Bench Warrant
I was charged in 2001 (Iowa) with assault (aggravated misdemeanor) but I never went to the trial and eventually moved out of the state. It is my first and only offense. Needles to say, there is also now a warrant out for my arrest for not showing up. I now live and Florida, and I am looking to get this all taken care of. Will I have to go back to Iowa to do so? And if so, and I come to some kind of plea agreement can I serve my sentence, whatever it is, here in Florida? Thanks in advance.

Re: Outstanding Charges and Bench Warrant
You need an Iowa lawyer for this situation, but you may be able to serve probation or house arrest (if that's what you get) in Florida.
