Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

I plead guilty to 5th degree theft and asked for a deferred judgement. On the sentencing paperwork it says I have to pay fines, fees, take a class, and be placed on probation for 12 months. When I signed up for probation they advised that I would be eligible for this probation to be over in 6 months. Once the probation is over is there anything in particular I have to do to for the charge to actually become deferred or when the probation officer sends in the paperwork stating I've completed my probation does that get sent to the judge and it automatically wipes the conviction off? I am just wondering if there's anything special I have to do when I've finished.

Sometimes the judge will enter an order which says that the matter is expunged. Sometimes you need to follow up and ask that the order be entered once you have successfully completed probation.
