Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Possession of a Controlled Substance

I was charged about six months ago with possession of a controlled substance. I was 17 at the time and was put on probation. I failed two random drug tests within the 3 month probation period and now I am being charged. They told me that the maximum I can get is one year in jail, a $1800 fine or both. That scared me considering that I now have my life back on track. I was just wondering if I could make a deal with them or somehow avoid jail time. Also, what kind of deals could I make if that is possible and what would seem like a reasonable deal?

Thanks

Chances are pretty good if you do not have anything else hanging over you you can avoid jail time. Were you charged as a juvenile or as an adult, and if so, why? I suggest you obtain the services of a good criminal lawyer to handle your case.
