Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Search warrant==return of service
When a search warrant is served, is a judge's or magistrate's signature required to be on the warrant served or served with the warrant?
When a search warrant has been conducted and evidence inventory has been collected, what is the time frame for making the ''return of service''? Can the evidence (computer and external hard drive) leave the local jurisdiction and be taken to a lab for viewing and testing before the ''return of service'' is made? If not, what state (Iowa) code would apply to this situation?
