Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
As a sex offender in Iowa, my son wants to go to Tennessee as his new residence upon release from prison. He will have served 10 months or so for an aggravated misdemeaner with intent to commit sex abuse.

He'll probably be on parole on release and the Department of Corrections will have to agree to it as well as the receiving state. Depending on whether he will be under lifetime registration or ten year registration it may be that staying in Iowa until the term of registration expires if he is a ten year registrant may be the better course of action. In moving to Tennessee he may trigger lifetime registration.
