Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
shoplifting
My 16 year old daughter was caught shoplifting today for no apparent reason. She had money with her. Anyway, my question is....under Iowa code 645, I am legally responsible for her actions. The store does want to pursue charges and I'm wondering if since I'm legally responsible, I can be charged as the ONLY defendant. She's only 16 and I really don't want her to have a ''record.'' I'd truly appreciate some input. I'm losing it quickly. Thanks!!!

Re: shoplifting
This section does not refer to criminal liability and you have none. She's the one with the juvenile record, not you. However juvenile records are sealed.
