Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

My son has been charged with 2nd degree burglary and 1st degree theft in connection with weapons that were stolen (approx 30) by his roommate. Police cannot locate the weapons so they charged my son. When police picked up my son him and 3 other guys they were in a hotel and in the room was a gun and marijuana so they added that charge to my son even though it was not on him. They released the other 3 people. They are talking up to 70 years due to the guns that are still missing. He has a public defender and is searching for someone who is wlling to do pro bono because we have no money to pay a lawyer. I am on disability and get a limited income. My son did not live with me but they busted my door down to come in and do a search, while I was not here. Now my phone is bugged and they may be watching all my internet activity as well. We are in Iowa, any suggestions you can give us on how to proceed are greatly appreciated

If your son is not happy with his current lawyer, he should first discuss that fact with that lawyer. Otherwise, you could contact other attorneys in your local area and discuss possible representation with them.
