Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
If you are given a suspended jail sentence of let's say 180 with probation and you violate your probation, is it automatic you will be given 180 days in jail? Also, how common is it that one receives the maximum sentence like that?

If you violate probation you can get anything from a tongue lashing to a revocation. A lot of people find it better to just do the time because on a 180 day hitch you will actually serve about 60 and then you'll be done with probation. It's a pain for a lot of people.
