Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Is this theft by deception? I live in the state of Iowa. I owed a friend of mine $25. I paid him $15. So, I just had $10 remaining to pay him. Two days ago, I took my HP laptop computer to a his house to work on some music. When it came time for me to leave he wouldn't let me take my computer with me saying that if I wanted it back I would have to pay him $300. $80 for a music interface hardware that I was going to buy earlier but he took back so I didn't. $111 for software that goes with it. $60 I somehow owed to his girlfriend. And whatever other money I owed him. He still has my computer now. I'm worried about what he might be saving on it.
