Theft 4th Degree -
I got charged with shoplifting - I have no criminal background at all. I'm just wondering what will most likely happen? Do I need to get a lawyer at all? What do I need to be prepared for?

Theft in the 4th Degree is a serious misdemeanor. The maximum sentence is one year in jail and a fine of $1875. You may be eligible for a deferred judgment. If you have concerns about the effect that this will have on your life, you should contact an attorney.
