Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Unique Shoplifting charge

I was convicted of shoplifting in june of 2008 and my court date scheduled for June 17th. I lived in Cedar Rapids at the time but on June 13th our whole city expierenced a 500 year flood engulfing many building including the court house making my hearing impossible to go to. I have since moved to Missouri to go to college but have not heard from them. What is the best way to get this settled?

Contact the Linn County Attorney's office at the following address and explain the situation and get a new court date. You probably do not want to have a warrant issued.

Hire an attorney in Cedar Rapids. Perhaps everyone was given a new court date, or perhaps there is a warrant out for your arrest. Either way, a local attorney can help you. Good luck.
