Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

I am the victim in a domestic violence case. The case is against the father of my children. We were both under the influence of alcohol when the abuse happened. We got into a heated argument and my face ended up smashing into a car window. The original statement I made to the police was that he smashed my face into the car window because at the time that's what I believed happened. Like I said, we were both heavily under the influence of alcohol and I was still very much intoxicated when the police showed up. The details of that night are now somewhat hazy and I'm not sure how my face ended up smashing into the car window. I don't want to send him prison for a long period of time. If I were to recant my statement, would I be charged with perjury or falsifying information even tho I was intoxicated at the time? Would the charges against my children's father drop? This took place at the beginning of July 2016. I live in Iowa.

As a professional matter I do not give out information that would enable someone to defeat a domestic violence charge because the victim is leveraged into "recanting".
