Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
warrant not cancelled
Feb. 12 2008 a warrant was issued for nonpayment of fine. On July 8, 2008 i paid the fine off. On Sep. 26 I was arrested for contempt of court for nonpayment of the fine. Even providing proof of the payment i was still arrested. I had to post bond for the fine I had already paid for.
On Oct. 7 I appeared before a judge and they said that the paperwork for the payment didn't get to the right place so the warrant wasn't cancelled. The case was dismissed and the bond will be returned to me.
Can I do anything to get back the 2 days of work that i missed and for being arrested? In this small town, all arrests are put in the paper for everyone to see.
