i have a failure to appear on a supenoa as a witness for the state how long will i be held in jail in iowa if i ask the county attorney to continue my case so i can make it

No way of telling, but it depends largely on how much trouble you've caused everyone by your absence. I suggest you contact the county attorney and see what can be worked out.
