Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
i'm wondering if you would be sentenced to jail or be charged fines & probation for getting misdemeanor of child endangerment. First time ever being in trouble with law, child was not harmed in any way at all, only left home alone for short time in messy home.

Your question cannot be answered without additional information. I do not know whether you were charged with a misdemeanor or felony. In either event you could be subject to jail time and fines. A serious misdemeanor carries with it a mandatory fine that must be imposed. Aggravated misdemeanor and felony charges have fines that can be suspended. I would encourage you to apply for a public defender or hire an attorney. If you have no prior criminal history and no child was hurt, you might be able to request a deferred judgement, which would allow you to plead guilty but keep this incident off your record. You really need to ask an attorney who has all of the facts of your case to give you advice. My Regards.
