Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
writeing thousands of bad checks to various businesses
I have run across an individual who has been writing a lot of bad check around town for large sums of money $3000.00 and above and has useing those checks to get a lot of things includeing food and clothing. I was wondering if this is in anyway a criminal offense and if so how would I go about reporting this to the authorities?

Re: writeing thousands of bad checks to various businesses
It's forgery and it's a D felony under Iowa law. It's punishable by up to five years in prison. You can bet that the people this person drops the hot checks on will contact the law. No need for you to do anything.
