Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Two years ago my daughter and her two friends did a dine and dash and they got her license plate number and turned her in. Her friend later went and paid the bill. Two years later they arrested her for 5th degree theft and she has to go to court tomorrow. The restaurant says they have no record of the bill being paid. What are her options? Should she get a lawyer before going to court tomorrow?

There could be a potential statute of limitations defense to the charge. Its always a good idea to consult with a lawyer about a criminal charge.
