I recently got an OWI in the state of Iowa. I was eligible for a public defender however they withdrew from my case because of their overload with cases. Do I have to get an attorney or can I just defend myself?

If you are indigent the court will appoint an attorney if the PD can't take the case, and I am surprised they did not. Go to the courthouse, fill out the financial affidavit and make application for a court appointed attorney.
