Legal Question in Education Law in Iowa
I was handed an involuntary transfer from elementary principal, elementary counselor, curriculum director to a teaching position as a family consumer science teacher--an area that I only have a minor in and no experience. There were 2 other openings that I qualified for but was told I could not transfer to them or even apply. I have had good evaluations, never been reprimanded or written up. Please help--I have been in education for 25 years and at this school for 4 years and will probable leave the education field because of it.

What does your contract state? What do the school or district rules state? That is where your answer lies. Are there department of education rules that apply to school districts in this instance? Without reviewing them no lawyer can answer this question. Get copies and take them to a lawyer for an immediate review and yes expect to pay the lawyer for his/her time.
