Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I am 8 months pregnant and am unsure of who the father is. There are 2 men involved only, and both know they potentially could be the father. Neither man is fit to be a father (both have a lengthy history of drug/alcohol abuse, DUI's, domestic abuse, and incarceration). While both have been recently clean and have not engaged in criminal activity, I don't want either man in my child's life. Is it possible for me to retain sole custody and protect myself from a potential custody case/paternity suit?

You do not have to name anyone on the birth certificate, but that doesn't foreclose one or the other from filing an action to determine paternity. That being said, you'd be giving up any potential claim to child support and that would be doing a disservice to the child, although they don't sound like the kind of men who are interested in taking up the burdens and joys of fatherhood.
