Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I have a 3 year old daughter which i have primary physical care and joint legal custody with my ex-husband. I currently live in Iowa and need to move to Maine very very soon. I was told all I need to change would be the visitation schedule but I found out that would take a couple of months. My question was if I got things started in Iowa if I would be aloud to move to Maine and come back to Iowa when the hearing was set. There is a visitation schedule set and the conflicts I forsee is July,4 and that it states that whenever he is in town if he gives me enough notice that he can see our daughter. What are the consequences if he does not see her.

I am assuming that you would be taking the child out of state. Leaving the state in advance of a court hearing permitting the proposed changes to it would be in violation of the custody agreement.
