Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Can I have my 17 year old son's wages garnished to cover the legal expenses he is incurring from his misbehavior that we are held responsible for as his parents in Iowa? Or do we have to give up our parental rights and give him to the State in order to protect our finances?
