Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Adopting My Biological Children

I have been reunited with both of my biological children that I gave up for adoption at birth. I would like to adopt them back. What steps do I need to do this, can I do this without hiring an attorney, and what is the cost in this?

Re: Adopting My Biological Children

To my knowledge you cannot "Adopt-Back" your natural children, or vacate the adoption Judgment/Order you consented to at birth, unless there was some kind of misdealing, mistake, or illegality in the proceedings. Or, the adoptive parents place the child or children up for your adoption.

Unless there is a pressing need for the children's benefit and best interests, that they be reunited and returned to you, your proposal or plan could easily destroy the health, well being and happiness of more than a few people.

You should carefully consider the ramifications of what it is you say you want to do. Why, should it not be considered a "most selfish" undertaking.

GOOD LUCK,
