Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

what age can a child live with their other parent

what is the law in Texas that a child can live with their other parent that doesn't have custody of them? If the divorce was filed in Iowa and the child wants to live in Iowa does the custody parent have to come to Iowa for a custody battle or does the person trying to fight for custody have to go to where the child has lived for the last 6 months?

I can't comment on what Texas law on the subject is. I suggest you consult with a knowledgeable family attorney in your area at your earliest convenience to start the process of enforcing the custody order. Whether Iowa courts have jurisdiction or whether it is transferred to Texas is ultimately a question of who files first, although it's just as much of a burden for one person to travel to Texas for the purpose of litigation as it is for the other to travel to Iowa.

If you have custody the child does not have a great deal of say in the matter until they reach the age of majority.
