Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I have a child who I have claimed on my taxes for the past 14 yrs. His dad would like to claim him this yr. We were never married and therefore, have no divorce decree. Since I am the primary care giver isn't it my right to claim him on my taxes every yr?
