Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
I just got done with my child custody case and now we are waiting for the judges decision. He said it could take 60 days to make a ruling. I admitted on the stand that I have had financial issues in the past, but I have been the primary caregiver for the past 5 years. My exhusband was abusive and admitted on the stand to smacking my son in the mouth more than once. He also admitted to shooting the family pet. All of his family live in a rural town and mine live out of state. I relocated about 50 miles away from his place of residence due to domestic violence in the home. What are the odds the judge will rule in his favor?

Is he trying to get a change in custody? Physical abuse of a child is not well liked by the courts. If you had the primary care it is he who has to make the showing that would justify the change in circumstances. I don;t know all the facts but on what you've told me your chances are fairly good.
