Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Child Custody

To Whom This May Concern,

My daughter is almost 3 years old. Her father, who lives in Iowa, has had nothing to do with her at all. I am giving him 3 more months to figure out what he is going to do as far as visitation, etc. If he does nothing I want to go to court and file for full custody of my daughter. I don't have enough money to hire a lawyer, so my question is: what do I need to do to prepare myself when I go to court? What paperwork do I need to obtain to be able to file with the court? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
