Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Child Custody

I have been paying child support and providing health insurance for my 12 year old daughter since she was born. I was not a part of her life for the first 6 years, but after getting married and having other children, I realized what I was missing and contacted her mother. For the first few years we saw each other only once every couple of months and always in the company of her mother. Now that she is older she has voiced her opinion and wants more time with us--every other weekend and holidays. We have never been to court to have any court appointed visitation. If we were to go to court, what would the most likely outcome be? What are the average costs of a court case like this? I do not have any custody and have never claimed her on our taxes. Any insight you could give me would be helpful.

Re: Child Custody

I think it would be high time to get yourself an attorney and conclude a custody and support agreement so that everyone knows what they're supposed to do and when.
