Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

child custody / child support

I know Iowa is in violation of child support laws and have been since may of 2006 since I cannot work due to a car accident I was involved in. I have filled out and sent in every form they asked me for yet my child support has stayed at almost $1200.00/mo.. Also the mother of my 2 children has refused to let me see my kids since Dec of 2005 and is now telling me that I have no rights to see my kids. She moves every time I find out where she is living and in the past has told me to come see the kids and then would not let me see them. I love my kids and live 800+ miles away from them is there any way that I can get the courts to see what is going on and let me get my relationship back with my kids. I am keeping records of all contact that I have with them and copies of everything I send to them since last month because I found out she hasn't been giving them anything I send to them?

Re: child custody / child support

What you need to do is file for a modification of your support if you are unable to pay it because you can't work.. Do you have a custody order that spells out visitation and custody matters? If you don't, there's nothing you can do to enforce anything.
