Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

child refuses court-ordered visitation

What happens if a 14 year-old and a 16 year-old refuses court-ordered visitation with their non-custodial parent? The 16 year-old just recently got a job that would occassionally require him to work on days of scheduled visitation with non-custodial parent, but non-custodial parent will not allow him to go to work. The 14 year-old wants to attend his current church, not the non-custodial parent's church. As you can see the non-custodial parent has some issues with extreme control and it is making the children miserable.

Re: child refuses court-ordered visitation

Well, all a person can do is go into court on the theory that the noncustodial parent is interfering with the children and modify the custody agreement. As a practical matter kids more or less do what they're going to do anyway.
