what are my rights as a father regarding my unborn child, im not married to the mother.

You have absolutely no right regarding the unborn child being carried by an unwed mother, unless the local laws of your State recognise such a relationship akin to marriage. As far as I understand, IA does not recognise even a 'living relationship' as equal to a common law marriage. Therefore, in IA State father of an unborn child may have no legal right.

You are going to have to establish paternity. Once you do that, you will have the same rights to the child as the mother but physical custody cannot go to two people at the same time if they are no longer together (you don't indicate whether you are or not), but I'd recommend consulting with a local family law attorney about how to get this started.
